This is a Canada Hanukkah booklet that was recalled on 2017. This booklet is M-VF NH. I was wondering how rare is it. Thank you.

Not that rare, but many available on ebay at around 20$ -25$ CDN
Less rare that the Dinosaurs, (35-75$ CDN) based on ebay and catalogue pricing.

I like to keep related things together. We discussed this booklet in an earlier thread.

I hope that some people received and kept an early postmarked version. (I didn't. )

Would love to know the story of why this stamp was recalled. Can anyone elaborate?

Here is what collectors assumed why they were removed...

The number of candles was wrong.
The French version of Hanukkah was spelled oddly.
The micro dates 2017 and Canada 150 should have been written in Hebrew.
The wording about the Jewish Temple on the back of the booklet, or the way the old date was written could be offensive.
Religious symbols should not be used on Canadian stamps

Adding to wert's post -
The star on the front cover of the recalled booklet was reminiscent of the star that the German Nazis in World War II forced members of the Jewish race to wear.

The yellow star, inscribed with the word "Jude" ("Jew" in German), has become a symbol of Nazi persecution. Its likeness abounds upon Holocaust literature and materials.

The use of the Star of David design long predates WWII, so while the connection with Nazi persecution may be the prevailing modern association and inference, it's not completely accurate.

It was part of the Nazi occupation....I can see why Jews would complain.

I have three booklets left of the thirty I purchased before some post offices read their emails that first day of issue day recalling them. I sold the rest at cost to members of two local stamp clubs.
