Anyone know what year the Unitrade's Canada catalogue went color?
Thanks.

Thanks. I've seen a couple late '90s catalogues going for just a few dollars. Guess one of them will do. I'm more interested in identification of varieties than actual current values.

Collin:
Get a post-2005 edition... there's a huge amount of information in those versions.

David-
Thanks for that. I guess I probably should just get a current one...it looks like I can get one for around $30. I was attracted by 3.00 prices for late '90's catalogues on sites like abebooks. Too good to be true (for my purposes, at least).

If you collect constant varieties, they were updated quite a bit in the 2010 edition, and from what I hear, even more so in the 2011 edition. The catalogue has greatly improved since Robin Harris took over as editor a few years ago. |

I recently purchased the 2010 edition -- my first Unitrade catalogue. I must say, I have learned so much from reading the catalog. Prior to this, I've used only Scott. But I think I've learned more about Canada reading Unitrade than I learned about U.S. reading the Scott Specialized. -- if that makes sense.

I totally agree. Ever since Robin Harris took over the reigns, the Unitrade catalogue has vastly improved.
I have to be honest here in saying that I have not consulted the Scott's catalogue for over 20 years for anything in Canadian stamps.
The thing I like about the Unitrade catalogue now are the expanding listings such as books published on different Canadian philatelic subjects, Christmas Seals, many plate varieties and the list goes on and on.
My 2010 is fantastic and I make a point of getting an edition every year. My 2007 edition went to Florida, 2008 to Ireland and my 2009 to the UK <G>. Always someone wanting one which is great really.
To Americans and other countries alike, the Unitrade is a 'foreign' catalogue and this is why I buy foreign catalogues myself, just to see the varieties that are not listed in the Scotts.
Happy collecting
