Very interesting way to mark D-Day.

Hundreds of Canadian homes will soon be receiving postcards with the name, rank, age, and date of death of a soldier who lived there and went on to die in Second World War D-Day invasion.

Unless the widows are still there to receive the cards ...

... or someone else old enough to remember the person, well, personally.

Then it might be taken any number of ways, people being people.

Cheers,

Edited to add:

"Fun facts from Canada Post: Do you know who once lived here?"

Q/ What if the current resident has mental health issues, and is already is on the lookout for ghosts & unhappy spirits?

Having spent 37 years in the RCAF and the CF, I see this as an exceptional way to remember those how stayed in Europe so we could live our lives freely in Canada. Follow-on stories in the Star, with those who currently live at an identified address, are extremely positive and several have said they would be doing something to commemorate their sacrifice. I only know that if I received a postcard about a fallen family member or relative I would be so proud that they were again remembered.

Per ardua ad astra !

Don
