Two Different Types On Same Block Of Stamps (But Different Stamps)

So this is the first time I have seen something like this. A block of four. The left two are clearly Type 631, and the left 2 are 712. Both types are listed for Medina. I am curious, does anyone know how do two different types end up on the same block of stamps?

You are referring to the precancels, not the stamps. They are the same stamp a Scott #899. The precancels are different, though both from the same origin (Medina Wis).
Though good point, I don't know how to explain the two varieties on the same block.

Yes, referring to the precancel types not the stamp.

I think Chasa has it right, it was probably the postal worker doing something for a customer. I have several other commemorative favor precancels of both types for Medina, so I suspect the post office was doing something for customers.
