Hello,

This is not a postage stamp but a label to indicate registered post. The one you have is a very common layout for these kind of labels. This layout was and still is used in a lot of countries.

A few examples from Danzig and England/Scotland

Yours, looks French/French Canadian: "..Frontoise·Centre·de·Tri". That is, a mail sorting center on a French-speaking country

Martina,
I've shown a few around $1,000 - $5,000

PS: The shape of the "R" can often identify the country of origin.

I save these registry labels, as well as etiquettes (the "par avion/air mail" labels), whenever I find them. Probably have them from 100 different countries by now, they make nice extra material to mount with country collections or good additions to cinderella collections. Most countries have used several different styles over the years, besides of course the many different cities that might appear.

I understand that they are most valuable unused, or in complete booklets, but some of the really rare ones you won't find either way.

New Britain famously overprinted a few old registration labels (German New Guinea) to create a provisional postage issue, Scott #43. They come in several different varieties from different towns in New Britain. They are all scarce.

Seeing those examples were a great help, thanks for showing me.
I didn't think i'd recieve much information because the label, looks so plain, but to my surprise...

"There's more than meets the eye"

I agree, it would make a very nice ,little extra in my album, alongside my stamps from france.
