Can any member help with the identification of the listed stamp below?

I have tried looking for a similar stamp amongst my reference books/catalogues including Narumi's - Japanese Revenue Stamp Catalogue 2016. Is this stamp listed in any of the relevant catalogue and are there any other values, maybe this is a trial stamp?

Any information would be helpful

Thanks
Andrew

Thanks 'vayolene'

Just followed the link, the stamp turns out to have been used by the Japanese Post Office training school, I would have never guess this outcome. At least I have something to go on as I search for more information, when they in use, quantities printed, various denominations & colours etc.

Thanks perf12

A good informative link, I am beginning to build up a picture on these issues, still a long way to go.....Are they mentioned in any catalogues or printed reference works?

Also could someone show more of these from their collections for comparison. I just wonder if these are collectable?

I only have three of these in total and they were always kept at the back of a stock book until further information turned up.

Great link Perf12

This is just the information that I was looking for....a very informative description of these stamps

'Jim' – Thanks for sharing your Japanese training stamps with us for all to see. I do like the simplicity of these stamps. I think I have come across these sometime ago. Will check my other stock book, I may have a date of issue for these?

Thanks

Andrew

Jim,

I must have misplaced the training stamps with the large numerals, however I kept the note which accompanied the stamps:

"From the Postal Services Ministry's 1954-1956 training series of stamps reported in Japanese Philately magazine Vol. 51. No.2 page 69 – April 1996. 12 denominations in different colours with numerals being 11.5mm high"

Unfortunately I have no way of checking the above statement, you may already be aware of the above?

The Standard Catalogue of the Japanese Revenue Stamps edited by Shimomura 2010 edition
has a section on the post office training stamps setting out the stamps and various shades etc.

Can any member share the appropriate pages for these training stamps on this link?

I have tried to locate a copy of the above catalogue on the web, unfortunately non were available. I would be happy to purchase a spare copy from any member who has one for sale.

Please contact me through my email address.

Thanks
Andrew
