Hello,

Can anyone let me know whether Yvert 4712A has been unissued. The stamp has been replaced by Yvert 4712 (issued in 2013) due to a change in tarif (0.60€ vs. 0.63€).

I wonder, since a tarif change is nothing "surprising", so why has a stamp with the "old" tarif been produced in the first place ?

Thanks for any explanation.
Dieter

This stamp was printed by mistake, in small sheets of 5 stamps, and delivered in post offices with a face value of 0.60 € instead of 0.63 €. It was immediately withdrawn from the post office but some blocks found their way into the philatelic market. It remained un-issued.
Also there was a change in tarif on jan. 1 2013.
Blocks sell for over a 100 euros.

Thanks for the answer. Am I correct that the 0.63€ stamp has been issued instead on 4/1/13, meaning 10 days before the tarif change ?

I also find blocks of 5 for the 0.63€ stamp..., so I assume the block was intentional, correct ?

The 0.60€ block sells for at least 260€. I could, at least, not find any cheaper offers on ebay or Delcampe ?

The tarif change was on the Jan. 1 2013.
Very little information about how the stamps found their way into the market. Some of the sheets were sent too different postoffic's.The French post realized very quickly the error
in the printing.Immeadiatly all purchases in the post office were impossible because the
sheet would have to be scanned through the central computer when purchased. So the scan (Laser) was blocked. It is assumed certain post office's sold the sheet nevertheless.
Prices vary considerably for these sheets and used examples on cover are scarce.
I did not know about this stamp error before you brought this up.

Hi.
The lowest prices I saw on Delcampe are 60€ for a single stamp and 180€ for a full sheetlet.
I've never seen used copies.
