Most likely I just have a severe case of catalog blindness, but for some reason I can't find this SS from 1971 in Scott. Any ideas?

I took a spin through my 2009 copy of Scott and didn't see anything either.

Based on the picture and date, your item appears to be commemorating the tenth anniversary of Gagarin becoming the first human in space.

You may have a hard time finding it
The Gagarin stamp was issued in 1961
The S/S was issued as a limited edition in 1971 (10th anniversary) but the value is relatively low and quite common
I have it in Russian catalogs so Scott's # ??
The listing in Russian seems to not consider it as postal value but simply a commemorative item

Thank you gentlemen.

I have the original 1961 stamp, and had a suspicion that this SS could be something other than regular issue stamp, but wanted to make sure that I'm not simply going blind.

I guess I'll catalog this as something like poster stamp.

I'll give it my own Scott number. It will fit nicely right after 3844 which is also commemorating same event. So it is officially Scott #3844A in my books

Low value does not surprise me, as there seems to be several hundred thousands of those issued judging by the number 272,928.

Agree. Not Scott-listed.

Commemorative item.

If memory serves this was available at the VDNKh outside Moscow.
