Who on earth buys forever stamps at a post office and then immediately sells them on ebay at a huge discount? Is this a new business model that is taught in schools these days? I'm old and confused. Befuddled, even. Maybe just old, I don't know. Or sleepy, maybe? Jim https://www.ebay.com/itm/500-Foreve...!91326!US!-1

counterfeit or stolen from work or I've also heard the suggestion tax fraud (expense claimed, sales not reported - but this will only work if the tax bracket is high enough to be larger than the discount offered plus ebay and PayPal fees) |

How about a dealer who made a legitimate purchase which included these stamps? And now wishes to recoup some of his/her investment.
Unconventional, yes. Illegal, no.

Offer them $150 and see what happens.
Buying US forever stamps outside a US PO would very much open to the China counterfeit etc How would you know if they were counterfeit or not? |

Just selling face. Good dealer in jewelry, coins and bullion. Probably picked these up in a large lot. I do. |

"How about a dealer who made a legitimate purchase which included these stamps? And now wishes to recoup some of his/her investment."
Then the question just moves to "Who on earth buys forever stamps at a post office and then immediately sells to dealer at a huge discount" |

I cannot imagine a stamp collector buying massive amounts of "forever" flag stamps. |

Imagine it. I end up with copious amounts of postage in rolls, sheets and every other form in large lots. Auction houses frequently have massive amounts of face to sell. Or it could be a Chinese cartel counterfeiting operation which is infinitely more exciting. |

The last issue of Linn's Stamp News (June 8, 2019, page 11) features an article about a post office manager in Louisiana. Seems he has a gambling addiction. He stole and sold hundreds of thousands of dollars of stamps on ebay to support his habit. |

Just to keep things in perspective... The original posting relates to a long-established "brick and mortar"coin, gold, and collectibles dealer located in SoCal. Who also has used ebay as a sales channel for quite some time. |
