Having difficulty identifying this stamp. I'm not even sure it's a postal issue. Is anyone familiar with this region and come across this one before?

Thank you. I couldn't find it in Scott 1840 - 1940. That explains why.

Tom, very nice, not seen this fellow before.
Could you offer the perf guage please? 11˝ or 12 ?

I am having difficulty confirming Michael's appraisal.
McDonald suggests 1924
Black and red on Buff? (does not look like buff to me)

also "Turkish script underprint"
Is anyone able to explain this.

Script reads National Defence Association 28mm x 20.5mm

Aha!
Just spotted the RED (or LILAC?) underprint, in the top section, betwixt the perforation and the design frame.........

Underprint can be Brown, Red , Lilac, or Grey.

Thanks again. Still working on building a reference library. Spinks is delivering a couple of catalogs today on stamps of France. Shipping cost me more than the catalogs did.
