I purchased this NL stamp about a month on ebay. I bought it as an unissued. I compared it two similar stamps, the 1922 Vickers-Vimy essays. One was brown and black, the other one was brown and blue. I need the experts here to verify if it is a forgery. Thank you for any help you can provide. The perfs are different. CuL_Lector

The forgery was created by A.C. Roessler a major stamp & coin dealer of New Jersey who made literally hundreds of very authentic looking fake covers between 1910 & 1950.

As for the airmail stamp.
In 1919, the Imperial Aircraft Company was granted a mail service across Newfoundland, and to Montreal. In 1922 De la Rue was requested to print an engraved 15˘ airmail stamp featuring the Vickers-Vimy biplane. 3 different color essays were created but concerns of safety and bad weather cancelled the contract. A.C. Roessler produced an embossed lithographed forgery of the essay in 1931. It is not perforated but individually die cut so no multiples exist

Thanks, SForgCa. I contacted the seller, and, if he doesn't reply, I'll contact ebay.

Thanks, perf12. I contacted the seller and the only thing he said was: gone out of town, will be back next week. There was no apology. I'm wondering just how many more buyers have ripped off. I made the mistake of not checking the stamp out. Thanks, guys, for all your help. Cliff
