The additional franking has been removed from this postcard, but from the message on the verso we can assume that it was one of the new issues for King George V...

The card is addressed to E.H. Pargiter, of Patiala, Punjab. According to the India List and India Office List 1905, Pargiter was a Superintending Engineer, First Class, of the Irrigation Branch in Punjab.

On the day this card was posted, 14 December 1911, at the Delhi Durbar some 50,000 soldiers paraded before King George V.

Would have been quite a sight.

The stamp was pulled of the card by a postal worker….It was quiet a sight…..
