Any reason why there is a US Savings Bond cancel on this Guatemala tax stamp?

Thats a good one Dave, someone probably affixed that Guatemala postal tax stamp to a letter going through the U.S. mail..i have received letters from collectors who added foreign stamps to a U.S. envelope !

Hi Dave....

It could have traveled here in a diplomat's pouch......then canceled here as it entered the mail stream......I've seen quite a few canceled that way from all over the world.

It doesn't surprise me. I think you could probably send a letter using a Captain Kangaroo trading stamp 8 out of 10 times in the US.
