Here's a modern example of how hard it is to keep track of what is out there:

The USPS issued 100 sheets of right-side-up Jenny Invert sheet randomly through their distribution system. Each came with instructions to register the sheet when found. By now it is pretty clear all the sheets have been distributed.

About 1/3 are accounted for so far.

For all we know somebody has an a bundle of letters from a relative with Scott #85A on every one of them. These letters were passed down through the family who treasures their content and has no idea that the stamps may be valuable. Unlikely, yes. Possible, yes.

alub..You are so correct..Also how many grandfathers have passed on and left collections in attics...Scary eh..?

Now here is a little story, and this is true...My son's friend is a welder and was working in an old house they were tearing apart...In the wall he found an old beaded purse that looked like the picture below with a zipper...In it they found 3 stamps with the queens head on it..He offered to me but my son said don't know if he wants it..YIKES..Still trying to contact him.
