The description is: "Typo&Emb; ' Imperial Eagle '; Small Shield; Half Used as ˝g on Cover" which keeps me puzzled, especially the "Half Used as ˝g on Cover" therefore I humbly ask. I presume it something not present on my stamp, so it is possibly the much cheaper version, but I still hope. Thank you. |

Collecting Germany using Scott is like crossing the Atlantic Ocean using a rowboat. |

Scott's is a general catalog not a basic catalog . You buy the catalog that fits your level of collecting and your needs .Many countries have very specialised National catalogs . |

On the present topic, Scott is laughable. They don't give the generalist collector enough basic information to really understand...but then they throw in "tidbits" that are completely worthless.
For example, they don't warn you that the "rare" imperforate variety you found in a cigar box is almost certainly a postal stationery cutout. Then they list a bisected stamp used on cover...something you sure to never run across.
Who is editing for Scott? |

When it comes to Germany, I feel sorry for the worldwide collector relying on Scott. I have the benefit of years of experience and shelves full of Germany references, and I struggle to make sense of their listings from about 1890-1930. The organization and, as bookbndrbob stated, choice of what to include in the general listings appears to be completely random at times. |
