This has a very faint grill so not sure of #. Appears to be SC#96. Thoughts?

It would be helpful to have a scan of the back side with the exposure/contrast exaggerated greatly to have the grill points show up better.

Scan while wet with watermark fluid and/or take photo with light source at a low angle to the surface of the stamp and/or a strong backlight

Pretty likely an F grill as you suspect, but a better scan would confirm. Right side looks like a reperf.
