There is an inner frame line. I'm not used to seeing that. Is that ok? Is there something going on here I'm missing?

It is missing the initials below Ten Cents as well and the outer frame line is drawn in. |

Three of the four margins comes up bright white when dipped. I have to wonder how they did all that, given the cancellation covers the whole stamp including the margins. I knew this looked a little too good to be true. |

Yes, I know that. I guess it means they started with an uncancelled stamp of some sort - maybe a proof or essay - added margins and some dirt and cancels to make it look authentic. Someone must have worked pretty hard at making it look good. I guess all I can do with this stamp is put it into the junk drawer. I guess I could list it as a fake stamp and ask like $20 for it but I'm afraid someone down the line would get duped... |

Rather than selling it, donate it to APS reference collection, take the tax credit/loss, and remove it from the marketplace all at the same time.
I suspect this was a used stamp and UV light examination would reveal traces of cleaned cancel other than the prominent red. Boardwalk margins without a cert is too good to be true. |

I think it is a genuinely used stamp with a genuine red grid cancel. The only fake cancel is that which is on top of the three added margins. Almost the entire periphery of the stamp design has also been painted in. I'll pay $20 for it. |

If it really is a genuine used #2, with fake margins and painted in design, maybe I would be willing to put it put on auction and see what happens. |

That would be insanity! Soak it in water if one must purify the stamp. I wouldn't be surprised if this stamp was repaired upwards of 80-100 years ago, long before we had a bunch of pinheads yacking about graded stamps. |

how is removing added margins any different than soaking of a regum job? |

risny keep the stamp, add it too your reference collection and use it as an example of a repair job. when dipped this stamp will take fluid unevenly and exhibit what we call picture framing. it is often done to add perfs margins or to reback a seriously thinned item. |
