I am new to the world of collecting US postal stationary / cards and I am trying to decide how I should go about it.

Is it popular to collect entries or cut squares by design type? So instead of trying to complete each catalog number (which looks to be super challenging) I would just collect one from each design type as noted in the scott catalog.

What is the most popular way to collect US postal stationary nowadays?

Thanks everyone for your advice.

Nowadays it would be entires whenever possible. Also, I would go with all main numbers, but that is up to the individual

You might want to try Albert's Stamps from Brooklyn, NY. Good dealer for postal stationary.

I started to collect postal stationery and found the same challenge. While I like collecting colors and varieties of stamps, collecting even major catalog numbers of cut squares is tedious. I wanted to supplement my main collection with stationery, but I ended up with way more pages of stationery than stamps. There are too many minor die differences and paper colors to make a balanced collection of stamps + stationery.
