Thanks for the scan. I generally agree with floortrader. The overprints on Hungarian stamps and FRANCO overprints are commonly forged and are worth very little. Both groups of those here are too small size here to evaluate but at least some are obvious forgeries. Most potential buyers of this lot would figure those stamps from little to nothing. Of course, you could offer the forgeries to Julius at the bargain price of $1.50 each by his figuring.
wheelman, where do you get that all Fiume issues are forged? Nowhere in any catalog does it say this, nor is it true. And there is something to be said for someone knowingly selling forgeries, and that is not good. Of course, it's done all the time, but imagine trying to dispute it when the seller says they didn't get the lot and demands a refund and you go to
ebay or the post office telling them you were selling forgeries.
stampwolf, no such error is listed, so someone made a (bad) fake of something that doesn't exist or something else happened. That "something else" could possibly be transfer of the 0.02c overprint to the gum of another stamp, with some of that being transferred again to your stamp. That could explain why the second overprint, which appears genuine, is so weak. If so, then the second overprint might not be permanent, either. This really needs in-person examination. If you feel brave, send it in to the APS for expertizing.
