Have a 3 cent Washington with Grill I'm trying to identify. This Grill has a feature I haven't seen before and I'm wondering if the horizontal rows above and below the red dots on image should be counted as Rows or considered the upper and lower frame of the Grill?

The partial rows at top or bottom are typical for E grills and two rows are "counted" as one then.

For grill identification stick to counting vertical rows coupled with known grill characteristics. When counting horizontal rows becomes necessary, you can't go wrong by only counting full rows.

The OP stamp shows an F grill.

Thank you sinclair2010 & stamperix. The upper and lower rows had me wondering. Uncertain if they qualified as rows at all. Agree the Grill is an F.

indeed it seems that there are too few vertical rows for an E grill :). I only looked at the partial rows and those being horizontal in a hurry.

It appears to have 12 vertical rows which would make it an "F" grill not and "E" grill. Additionally the shade of the stamp is typical for the "F" grill and not for the "E" grill.
