I started collecting WW and US stamps at age 10, a very, very long time ago. Now wanting to get back into the hobby.
I don't see a Q&A page so I'll ask here and hope it's the right place.
I'd like to know the difference between HE Harris Liberty and Mystic stamp American Heirloom Collection US albums as far as quality goes. Is one considered more valuable, more for the serious collector than the other?? I had a stamp store owner tell me that they don't like Mystic, but didn't explain why. Is it just personal preference?
I know HE Harris had an excellent reputation but I think their albums are no longer available new--is that correct?
Welcome! Personally, I switched from a Harris Liberty to the Mystic Heirloom about 15 years ago and I've loved it. I never found any love for the Harris 2 post albums. I also like that the Mystic album has Scott numbers, and the supplements integrate easily. Mine is up to 5 binders now, and I have an empty sixth binder ready to go when needed.
I used the Harris Liberty as a kid and still do 35 years later. That said, I use 3-ring binders. The binders do look a bit maybe cartoonish to some, but it is what is inside that counts.
As far as availability, you can still buy new Liberty albums easily. I've had a little more difficulty finding some of the supplements that I've wanted, but they are out there.
You'll probably see this a lot if you look here often, but the most answer you'll most likely receive is "collect in the way you enjoy the most."
