Good mornibg, I can find a couple of references to Wulfshoefen such as cancels on stamps and a couple of references to people who were born there. However I can't find any information on the town itself. I believe it is (if it still exists) either in Poland or Russia. If so I am sure the name has changed. Is there a site where I can cross reference this? Thank you David
The WULFSHOEFEN (Ostpreussen/Koenigsberg/Labiau area) cancellation is listed in Peter Feuser's Nachverwendete Altdeutschland-Stempel catalog and handbook on page 473. The cancel is shown in the same configuration as griffbo's. It is listed in the Prussia section, the largest listing of towns/cancels.
Feuser lists 4 values: The Prussian era (150 DM), North German Confederation era (50 DM), DR-Breast Shield era (40 DM), and Pfg era/Post-Breast Shield issues (40 DM).
This is a very nice cancel/town that does't show up in any other of my print sources.
