I'm afraid that these are all common stamps. Your George V stamp is from the period just before, during and after WWI, not the 1850s. |

Welcome. You have a good start to a new past time. Stamp collecting offers many positive things but always start with the assumption that any stamps you have are common. While there stories of folks stumbling across a rare stamp, the over whelming majority of stamps were typically printed in extraordinarily large quantities (many in the billions). Don |

Well the sets at the bottom are numbered editions of 2000 prints. I've been collecting these for 35 years. Just added another couple of pages but I don't suppose there's much point in taking photos. Seems like unless it's a penny black you're onto nowt. |

If you've been collecting for 35 years, it would be prudent to invest in some stamp catalogs & reference books. That would tell you what might be valuable, and the knowledge learned is invaluable. |

I might do that. Generally I just pick stuff up and put them in between the pages of a book until enough mount up. I though at least stamps from nearly 200 years ago would be worth something.
Thanks. |

Note: I don't buy stamps. I just take whatever happens to come along. Generally more interested in coins. |

Most of the stamps you've shown are recent. And age doesn't mean much - many stamps, from 1840 onwards, were printed in very large quantities and large numbers survive. The 1d black isn't a scarce stamp. |

Well the stamps might be modern but there are less letters being sent than ever before surely. So the interesting designs must be very low print numbers. |

Your "prints" are First Day Covers - stamps cancelled on the first day of availability, usually with a complementary illustration (cachet) on the envelope. This set is published by Abbey Philatelics. Check ebay for current values: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...ver&_sacat=0If you click the little "sold listings" button on the search page, you can see what they actually sell for. A rough rule of thumb on anything, from stamp covers to illustrated plates - if it was made and marketed as a "collectible," it probably doesn't have the value on the secondary market that the original promoter portrayed. |

"Huge numbers little demand profit for the issuing entity and no value."
Well something is gonna need to be done about that. I need more than 3.50 for my four first day covers. You're gonna have to approach more random people and tell them how good stamps are. Please record video proof of any promo efforts and upload footage to PeerTube.
chipg: Thanks. |
