Hey. I have been a member of the community for a couple years now. My dad collected and got me started at a young age. I concentrated on US stamps while his attention included France(his best collection), Canada, Scandinavian countries, Belgium, and others. He,s passed so I have them now. But I am only concentrating on U S now..catching up on the classics right now. Collect within my budget. I can't afford the best premium stamps, but stamps that have at least three good margins, not faded, no tears or reprerfs, no repairs or huge cancellations are fine with me. I would much rather have a full page of stamps that are decent then one beautiful certified stamp. Obviously I am in it for the fun and enjoyment more than an investment. .....but that's me
Welcome Gordo! You are right to think of this as a hobby and not an investment. You will never be disappointed that way - even though every non-collector who you ever meet, will always ask two questions. How many stamps do you own and how much is your collection worth.
