Hello members,

I found this 1p red stamp I'm not sure if this stamp is plate # 84 or 184. I research online by the letters DQ on it and found that plate #96 has those letters.
So I don't understand why plate # 84 or maybe #184 don't have the same letters. The stamp shows # 84 or #184 Please advice. Thank you Mara

Each of the plates from 71 to 225 follows the same alphabetical system for the corner letters from AA to TL. Each contains 240 stamps. The plate number, not the corner letters, is the means of differentiating one plate from another.

Yes, this is plate 184. While the "1" is not particularly strong here, a plate 84 would only show the little white dash in the diamond shape.

This is how a complete sheet would look like. Only the bottom letters are used to show the position of a stamp. Your stamp is lettered Q D so its position is on the fourth column from the left and four rows from the bottom.
