I'm really a coin collector but have quite a few stamps also, this stamp was listed in Canadian coins on e-Bay, I placed a bid and got it for $1.49.
I'm not sure what I have here it was listed as Scott #15 no gum
Is this considered a new or used stamp?
If new what's with the no gum?
I looked under e-Bay stamps and the value seems to be all over the place.
Is there any value to one like this?
Appreciate anyone kind enough to explain

Cheers, Bill

The terminology varies from country to country. In the UK, a stamp with untouched gum would be "unmounted mint", a hinged stamp with gum would be "mint" and a stamp like yours would be "unused". The gum could have been soaked off by a previous collector to preserve the stamp from damage in a humid climate, or it could have been stuck down in an old album and removed from the oage by immersion in water, thus removing the gum.

Unless I am missing something, this was a very good buy. It appears to be Scott 15, OK, and unused with no gum has a catalog value of either $425 or $625 (2013 Scott) depending on color. Looks brick red to me, thus Scott 15c, CV $625! Great buy!

Hi Hounddog Bill..Welcome to the forum buddy.

I believe your stamp is used never hinged..Why I say that is there is what looks like very small portions of a cancel.

I took 4 specimens of what looks like remnants of a cancel...Also took a picture of these areas..See below.
