Rod made an excellent point.

Don't be in a hurry to take the stamps out. I found out the longer they stayed in the drying book with weight on them the better they came out.

just found out ironing directly on stamps gets them very very flat! excellent, better to press at glue side.

Make absolutely sure, no glue left, it sticks to the iron and if that happened, iron cant be soaked that is deadly, just one stamp casualty out of so many good flat ones.

I always used 2 pieces of heavy water colour paper and/or heavy blotter paper. directly after soaking I blot dry with a paper towel and then place between water colour paper and press with a few very heavy books. seems to work wonderfully!

I use my old 1989 Scott catalogs as weights on a parchment pager stamp sandwich overnight. Works pretty good. It's either that, or I recycle those old beasts.
