Hi. The first one is a newspaper stamp from Austria. The second one is from Japanese Occupation of Philippines Islands. The third one is a postage due stamp from Switzerland. |

Michel prices this stamp on both periodical band and newspaper. And, the prices are high. It is not priced on commercial cover.
So, if the specialist wants something scarce or unusual, the price goes up. |

Hi Bob, can you expand please, I don't fully understand your post.Aha! I see, regarding the auction....Many thanks Bob. (saved) (Thinking to myself)....how to detect a "commercial cover" from a "periodical" unless it must be a "band" ---- Presuming "Expedition" = to expedite (to process) Thanks Vayolene. |

Here is a nice online exhibition of Austrian newspaper stamps including pictures of newspapers, book order forms and more. http://www.exponet.info/exhibit.php...=1327&lng=DEAnd I think, that the publishing companies also were allowed to send their correspondence with those stamps. -> |

With the item that Rod showed, it appears that it was probably something like a bill for a subscription. |

Quote: With the item that Rod showed, it appears that it was probably something like a bill for a subscription. Interesting, Bob, the bold typeface below the stamp had me thinking immediately as a Newspaper. It was hard to imagine a commercial cover with print on the right hand side of the envelope where the stamp was to be adhered. |

Rod, I agree that the closely cropped auction catalog/listing picture has the look of what might be a newspaper. I am taking the description "at face value". If I were going to bid on such an item, I would have to have a better picture, or a more precise description from the auction firm. |
