Hi all I saw a cover with a Scott 300 on it and the only cancel was an oval "Jackson Michigan" right on the stamp and not overlapping onto the cover, could this be a early pre cancel?
If so, is it rare?
I want to buy it but they want 25 dollars US to post to Australia!
Any info would be appreciated

Without a picture there is no way to really know what you were looking at. Can you post a link?
