More Bileski Publications

An early Bileski publication and the advertisement for it.

I'd be interested to know what the two stamps he refers to were: one of which there were only 8,000 and the other only 30,000. As for his mention (twice) of Arthur Szyk, it's interesting to note that, since he was Szyk's patron in the creation and issuance of the long series of album title pages, he managed to spell his name wrong!

Bileski may be referring to the following BNA stamps:


Newfoundland C12 with 8,000 surcharged.


Canada O9 with 30,000 overprinted.

jogil, my apologies, but those were most definitely not what Bileski was offering for a dollar included with the other items. His offerings included worldwide aside from BNA, and could include anything from legitimate to dubious items.

Absolutely no way. The Dornier DO-X stamp was relatively expensive just after the time of issue and would not have been sold by anyone for less than a dollar. The standard Bileski offer over the years was for new discoveries: varieties, Canada tagging variants, and the like. Whether these panned out later on as something of interest to the collecting public worthy of any kind of a premium is another question.
