Australia KGV Head Stamp Flaws

Hi all,

currently, I am flicking through an Australian collection of kgv heads, many are marked up as having flaws in some degree, a bit too specialist for me but thought I would show a selection and see what you think.

Theres around 100 or so others in the album.

May I make a polite suggestion,
Prior to asking for specialist information,
you oblige us with basic philatelic information,
Perforation guage and watermark.

I agree with Rod, but I also think you have the start of a great sub-specialty

Just a "heads up" for SCF members when seeking specialist advice.

Decades of philatelists have studied these sidefaces, and we have in depth information, but without identifying their family, we would just be guessing.
Stay tuned.

Agreed. I see several offerings on ebay that like to indicate something interesting, but they usually are not a known variety and normally an inking issue. The "C" looks normal to me. The "R" seems to have a small dot or smudge in it. And the two pence just looks like over-inking to me.

Post some more examples. (Especially if there is some type of ACSC number or indication.) We might find something.

I'll echo that, the "R' does seem to me to have a scratch, but it's like often say here.
"Imagine getting a diamond appraised from the back of the shop"

Sideface varieties need "In your face" close up scans, to accurately appraise.

This is how "Best practice" sideface identification should be presented
A scan of the stamp, as clear as possible,
then a scan of the variety area close up.

Note : "RA" joined, bottom left stamp.

Thanks for the replies, I've tried to crop certain images and improve upon them but my scanner doesnt seem up to it in fine detail, I have a new one on the way,

most of the stamps are flyspec dots etc, but I've posted a couple more in the hope they can be easily seen.

Both are perf 14 and watermark 2

First one noted as slanted top to crown.





This one noted as a break in the emu's right leg, and extra frame lines to left and top of stamp, the break is easily seen under magnification.

The lower stamp, appears to me to be a single line perforation.
The "extra frame lines" are referred to as "Compartment Lines"

Top Stamp "slanted top to crown" common, (often completely missing)
