I just made several frustrating attempts to browse their highly touted new site to price some page sets for the Windsor album. They now use drop downs to list different sections, the idea is you click on the item you want to pull up the listing:

https://www.stanleygibbons.com/prod...rinted-pages

I do this and.. nothing happens. I've tried on other things, catalogs, the site is unresponsive. Oh yes, they no longer have any record of my account. I cannot log in.

Gosh. What a surprise...I've notified them of the issues but I fear if I want anything for the Holiday I need to contact customer sevice. Their site is unusable for shopping.

It may be that their design (selecting items from the drop downs) is meant only to load the shopping cart and is not meant to navigate you to a new page.

Good suggestion, I just tried it. No deal, that doesn't work.

I swear, Gibbons is hopeless.

I saw this and just tried signing into my Stanley Gibbons account as well. No go - they say my email or password is wrong. I only created the account at the end of August. This is my first attempt since they changed the site. I reset my password to the old password and got on.

I am not sure what browser/operating system combination you are using but it works the way I described on my Windows 10 computer under these browsers; Edge, IE11, and Chrome.

1. Click on item, then click on 'Add to Cart'
2. Item is added to cart
3. Click another item, then click on 'Add To Cart'
4. Item is added to cart

I agree that drop down boxes are typically used to navigate to a new page but I think that they intentionally using the drop downs to allow shoppers to quickly populate a shopping cart.

I'm also thinking it's a browser problem. Works fine for me in Chrome and Firefox.

Don thanks. I went back this morning and tried it, also using Microsoft Edge (was using Chrome) and it now works. I'd also messaged SG customer service and got a reply from them dated some hours ago that they would address it. Not sure if it was a browser issue but now it looks like it works. I suspect it was some glitch on their end they fixed overnight after it being reported.

It now seems OK. One minor issue is that I cannot seem to see the item description and price before adding to the cart but at least for me it's workable. Thanks to all.

As Don showed, the descriptions (short) and prices show up for me generally. Maybe try clearing your browser cache?

The "Dispatches" section has interesting reading including the lead article from the latest Gibbons Stamp Monthly.

I've purchased several items from the SG site in the last couple of weeks and it always worked as Don described.

I don't believe there has been a site glitch, just a browser glitch.

I wish the 'over the top' title of this post reflected the actual problem.

Yes, an OTT heading and typical of the anti Stanley Gibbons, kick them when they are down type posts that seems to appear nowadays on stamp forums.

Yes, Stanley Gibbons are in big trouble, and yes their share price has collapsed but that has nothing to do with loses in their publishing division but the previous bad management that screwed up totally on poor acquisitions, wasted internet opportunities and crazy guaranteed investment schemes.

They now appear to be slowly getting back on track with their core stamp and coin business. I was surprised when I noticed they had a new website but I think it is very good, especially on a mobile phone, good forward think on their part. Yes, there are things that need improving and there will be some teething issues, but you can say that about any website. I actually bought a set of stamps from them a few days after the new website was released and everything, payment etc. went through very smoothly. I received the items the next day and it was even posted with real stamps!

Their stand at the recent Autumn Stampex also seemed busier than normal and I was drawn to it by a superbly looking book they were selling. Turns out it was the new Part I Commonwealth Catalogue with a stunning new cover, totally different from previous covers and perhaps another sign of change from the new management.

Give them a chance!!

Apparently my titling of this thread was a little inept. I won't object if the Mods delete the last part of the title. Not making excuses but posting a thread while in a state of annoyance doesn't often result in the best outcome. I have several shelves full of SG albums and use their catalogs so have a vested interest in seeing them do well. I think much of what's happening lately with them is to the good.

Hope that clears the air a bit.

Looking at their website, I can't find the old Senator, Simplex or (and I really want one of the) Nubian blank albums with quadrille pages. Am I just not finding them or have they been discontinued? Anyone know? I too have shelves full of Senator Standard albums and would prefer to keep the 'look' homogenous.

There are plenty of new Senators being offered elsewhere. Is there a problem with that?

I think SG have abandoned the Senator etc and the Nubian lines. For a springback with black quadrille leaves, try this

https://www.dauwalders.co.uk/wessex...145369-p.asp

I also use these. One thing to bear in mind is that the white leaves have a gloss finish

https://www.dauwalders.co.uk/wessex...101911-p.asp

Both are Senator etc-sized.

Thanks Geoff ! The Wessex albums with the black pages are quite attractive. I contacted them to find out about shipping to the US for five of them.
