On October 14, 1978 Belgium issued this 4.50 franc stamp to publicize "youth Philately." A young person is shown using a pencil to design an album page.

A quill pen is shown on this 1.70 mk 1990, discount Christmas stamp (Facit #1125) of Finland. This reduced rate stamp was intended "for use on Christmas cards mailed between 1st and 14th December, 1990" (Facit). A 2.00 mk Christmas stamp of different design was issued for cards mailed from December 15.

On May 26, 1984 Belgium issued this stamp (Sc #1172) publicizing the 2nd European Parliamentary elections held in June of that year.

This 1991, 2 naira stamp of Nigeria shows two students at microscopes. One of them is taking notes with a pen, or pencil.

This Finnish cinderella promotes Nordic Study Days, which appears to have been a conference, or exhibition held in Helsinki on July 13-17, 1952.

Shown below is from 1935 France: Yvert 303/Scott 301 showing Benjamin Delessert holding a quill (tip of which is out of view) and sheet of paper.
He's honored here for starting the savings bank movement in France, specifically a cooperative the Caisse d'Epargne which is still in operation. He was a scientist as well, who amassed a 30,000 bolume botany library and who developed industrial scale production of sugar from sugar beets.

These two stamps (Spain 1978) depicts paintbrush and palette of Tiziano (1477-1576) and Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640).

Here is Canada's October 7, 1998 stamp (Sc #1761) commemorating the 50th anniversary of The Declaration of Human Rights. Canadian legal scholar John Peters Humphrey (1905 - 1995), who wrote the first draft of the document, is shown.

Here is Y&T 2173 / Sc. 1780 from France in 1981 noting the International Year of Disabled Persons. The gentleman in the wheelchair is a draftsman wielding a pencil.
