Looking For A Phila-Meter

A Phila-meter is a gauge used for separating Flat plate printings from rotary printings. Any ideas where I might purchase one?

There is a slight size difference. The easiest method is to use a
PHIL-A-METER gauge, obtainable for about $3-4 from Subway Stamp Shop. In addition to a rotary vs. flat template, it includes a perf gauge and a scale
incremented in 0.25 mm convenient for all sorts of philatelic measurements.

The Sonic Imagery Labs gauge has much more including US grill sizes, vending machine perfs, Liberty series large/small perfs. It is larger and not pocket sized (about 11"x4"), but it is also much sturdier and will take more abuse than the Phil-a-Meter, a piece of film essentially. It does cost more, and all the features might be considered overkill until you find you need them.

I can recommend the Philameter very much. Unfortunately it's not sold often and probably not built anymore.
I am using it since years and it's by far the most exact transparent millimeter, rotary/flat and perforation gauge I know (except some selfmade). Just compare this gauge with a standardized metal industry mm ruler, this one is a perfect match.

The only thing I am not sure about is, if there are several versions of the Philameter gauge as there seem to be different (c) phrases at the bottom of it. But my guess would be that the quality is always the same and only the copyright different.

The Phil-a-Meter is always is on the same material; same quality. It's very convenient to stick in a catalog to take to shows but it might be better to store it an a unique-looking sleeve or envelope to make it easy to find. Experience tells me that. ( me looking for my Phil-a-Meter or Kiusalas gauge)

This is the perforation gang I use and find it to be very useful, especially for measuring stamps on cover. My gauge came with a one page yellow instruction sheet which also doubles as the storage sleeve. If anyone has lost their instruction sheet, or never had one I can post it here (after Dec 2).
