Queen Victoria Stamps With Red Cancel

The GB stamps are:

1 shilling SG150/Sc64 (most expensive plate number!)

3d SG144 /Sc61

Are you talking about the red cancellation on the shilling stamp? It looks like it has a crown at the top so maybe a registration marking? What year is the cover? From that we can find out what the rate was to the USA. The other red stamp looks like New York so maybe an arrival stamp?

The red marking is a New York transit postmark. It looks to read PAID ALL at the bottom, one of several types and sizes. This way, it proves a check was made that all fees/postage were paid (So no postage due charges) before sending the cover to its destination in New Jersey.

It is helpful to show the back of covers when there are markings there. The W 6 cancel is (I'm guessing) from London. The back might show us that.

The London postmark W6 is London Western District, Dubus type 11.

Well spotted hy-brasil! Sydney had a similar 'Paid All' handstamp at this time, in capital letters in an oval border, struck in violet, signifying to the US postal authorities that the letter had been fully prepaid to its destination. I have seven on covers dated between 1876 and 1885. Four of these have a San Francisco 'Paid All' handstamp also.
