Diogenes and the Sun (500th Birth Anniversary of Raphael, 1983) A little riddle from me too! It seems rare that Diogenes appears on stamp, but I find another Diogenes stamp besides the one above. Who Can post it or name it? |

For many years definitives of Argentina carried the same motif: a farmer at sunset, preparing to go home. Left 1911, right 1949. Note 1/2c and 25c. (Idebee, Details of the "School of Athens" have surely appeared elsewhere, but I know of only the Ajman stamp. Do you have another one?) |

In much of Greenland the sun doesn't rise above the horizon for several months of the year, so its appearance in spring is always celebrated. The stamp of 2010 celebrates the sun with a painting by Miki Jacobsen, (1965*). |
