The sun depicted in a stamp for the European Environment Year, 1987. The hand suggests that energy from the sun could be harnessed, and nowadays solar panels can be effective almost anywhere.  |

 There are 6 mice hidden in this stamp of the year of rat 1996! I didn't see them, neither even the big sun in the center until I read the design memo yesterday.  The big Chinese character in the sun is Mouse, which is a hieroglyph imitating a mouse with whiskers, legs and a tail. |

Jean Follon's (1934-2005) painting of a hand reaching for the sun seems surrealistic but maybe he wanted to suggest that the sun's energy is there for the taking, we just need to figure out how. 2004  |
