Here are a couple of Victoria stamps canceled with an R in a circle: Scott 169 and 173.

Are these revenue cancellations? I didn't have any luck searching the internet.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Robert

It could be, according to the PHILATELIC WEB Postmark Database, (R) Fee Paid. It looks like there was more writing for the right stamp, so it could be.

Those are very typical "Registered" cancels. You'll see them with thinner lines on the R and circle, too.

Probably Melbourne strikes. Sydney had 3 similar devices.

It would be interesting to see scans of the different types of these cancels that Stamp Community members have in their collections.

FDS,
Your question appears open, if so, I'll include the Premier State (Western Australia)

Nice strikes Bobby De La Rue - and not particularly easy to find.

It took longer than I thought it would to find this selection:

Nice array Fairdinkumstamps. The cover to Switzerland is quite nice, an uncommon destination. I can't make out the numeral or the datestamp though

Thanks Bobby De La Rue - yes, a nice cover posted at Pleasant Hills, numeral 1529 (RRR) (upside down).

Backstamps include nearby Henty, Albury and a Travelling Post Office.
