Your image is too small. If you want help post a good image. Have you checked for watermarks? What Type is it? You arrived at 491. That means that it is unwatermarked and Type II. Is that the case?

Your scan/pic. is too small. Need a larger image to see the type. Have you measured the north/south (straight edges) to see if it is 25.0 mm across several points to check to insure those edges are parallel? Have you checked for a watermark? #491 has no watermark. Single-line watermarks can be difficult to see, especially when only a fraction of one is actually on the stamp. I've a friend who "lost out" on one he was sure was a #491 because there was a part of a watermark on one perf. tip. There can only be one vertical line in the ends on the ribbon (right and left) and there is as difference in the hair at the top of Washington's head between types I,II. Type III has two vertical lines in both ribbon ends.

to be honest I was taking a guess at the stamp these are really hard to tell. just when u think u got the right stamp its usually something out.

Al E. Gator remembered that one right! Yup, I thought I had one (I do have one that has a cert since then), but Bill Weiss found a wmk on one single perf tip.

I told him that if he could find a watermark, I'd eat the stamp....I guess I broke my promise on that one! :)
