I recently acquired a large lot of Hong Kong stamps and most were identified correctly.
Three were labeled as possible fakes.
I tested all 3 for watermarks and found none.
I looked at a few examples and the Chinese characters look accurate to the untrained eye.
The font on #6 used for the "48" before cents looks odd, but I also saw variation in a few examples on
ebay, but maybe these are fakes too.
The perfs on #6 look odd too and the few remaining don't line up very well with 14.
But its hard to tell. Maybe closer to 12 1/2
and then #3's perfs are definitely not 14. The one with measurable perfs is 12 1/2 x 12 1/2
So if the perfs are "wrong"... what are these?
Complete fakes? Made recently or back in 1862?
Scott doesn't mention any variants, or like stamps.
I would appreciate your expertise and opinions.
