Im new hence the title rookie I have a c kansas overprint precancel I know about perforations but measuring is shady with coil vs flat plate. Why did they have to experiment with so many styles. That was rhetorical. Is this a 596.? Please feedback thank you in advance..

No, it is perf 10, thus Scott 581.

Only 13 known and 8 have the Kansas City MO.

In my 2018 Scott, the numbers are up to 15 & 10.

Interestingly, Scott 596 is a Scott 581 stamp that has the gauge 11 wheel perforations instead of the gauge 10 bar and wheel perforations.

What is interesting about your Scott 581 stamp is that it has the "KANSAS CITY MO." precancel that is found on most Scott 596 stamps.

Thus, you have a reference comparison copy that not only has the correct frame size dimensions but also the correct precancel as well.
