I have been using Davo 'Easy' mounts recently and I think the extra thickness of those is creating wear on my older cutter. I am getting little dents usually in the UL orders of the completed mount. I suspect the blade is wearing. I've have been shopping for a newer one. Found this:

Looks like you roll a circular blade to cut the mount. Anyone use a cutter like this and did you like it?

I use a Fiskar's rotary cutter and absolutely love it.

I use the Fiskars Flat trimmer.
Expensive but love it also, I cut with stamp in mount,
Downside, markings wear off after 3-4 years of continual use.

The prevailing opinion from prior discussion seems to be the Showgard Orthomatic Cutter. That's what I am using now.
I've noted comments that some folks have used theirs for years and it doesn't get dull, well it sure looks like mine has. On the Davo Easy Mounts I am getting little dings usually on the upper left top of the mount. Those mounts are thicker than others. On most you cut through two layers of materiel on these, three. I have an old Prinz cutter as well and tried that one on these, it just chews them up.

I've had my Showgard cutter for a decade or so, probably time to replace it. I went on line and found an art store nearby that carries the Fiskar cutters so will go look at these this week.

I wonder if you could sharpen the blade on your mount cutter? All blades dull over time. Sharpening isn't difficult at all. Barring that, you'll need to buy a new cutter, I'd think.

It might stand careful sharpening, but the cutter parts are just sheet metal. Take off too much and you'll just leave a gap to crumple mounts. A ten year life isn't bad, but it's time to get another cutter.

Can't really see buying a mount cutter of any kind as I can use the money for a cutter to buy stamps instead. I've used scissors to cut my mounts; usually with the stamp already inserted. Been doing it that way since I began using Showguard mounts maybe 45 years ago. Have yet to lose a stamp.
