I look in my grand father collection of the papal state from 1826 til 1948. I have your stamp but with some difference. My stamp do not have the square lines in the back.
you have to understand that the papal state have three post kinds. One from the pope office, second from conceal and the third for normal post.
I will explain: Around 1982, my mother obtained the authorization for me to look and talk with the counselor of printing archive in Vatican. Their I fund that the stamp in that period was print different and the cancels was also different. The reason was for proper direction of the correspondence. Also the cardinal I remember told me the stamps was different one from each one. Like this they was sure the correspondence will go direct in the wright hands. rule of "papali stati".
Mine has the paper lighter then yours and do not have those line in the back. you have to find out from which office come. Very interesting. if you have a double let me know.
Ex: I have a letter addressed to some MRg in Montevideo. All companies who certified here sad that one cancel is fake, but the stamp original. When I presented in Vatican, the answer was clear: Letter send by the pope office. In Italy, only one company which work with printing Vatican office, give me same answer: pope office cancel.
You have a very nice stamp, I see some points which attract me and I say: keep do not sell, probably is the counsel variant.(My opinion)
