US Scott #2915A 10 Peaks V 11 Peaks

Am I correct that one of these is 10 peaks and the other is the 11 peak variety?

Hi Joe. If I understand this correctly the left one is an 11x10 PP/VV, the right one is 10x10 PV/VP

Almost right. The first one is 11x10 PP/VV which means the right side has 11 peaks and the left side has 10 peaks, left side starting with a peak and right side starting with a valley.
Second ( right ) stamp is 10x10 PV/VP which means left side has 10 peaks starting with a peak and the right side has 10 peaks starting with a valley

For 2915a plate number 99999, there are only 11 x 10 and 10 x 10. The other die cut variety for 2915a is 10 x 11, an error die cut that exists on plates 66666 (extremely rare as only 7 used copies are known to exist) and 88898 (somewhat rare).

For 2915c, die cuts include 11 x 12 (common except for plate 88888 which is extremely rare as only 4 used singles are known to exist), 12 x 12 (common) and 12 x 11 (plate number 66666, extremely rare as only 7 used copies are known to exist).

Got left and right mixed up. Counting starts at left, so left side of left stamp has 11 peaks and starts with a peak. Right side has 10 peaks. Left side starts and ends with a peak hence PP. Right side starts and ends with a valley - VV

Also forgot to mention that 2915a 10 x 10 can be either PV/VP (peak in the top left corner) or VP/PV. Plate numbers with both varieties include 13231A, 22222A, 44444A, 55555A, 66666A, and 77777A.

Personally, the Flag Over Porch (FOP) coil series is my favorite. The many different varieties and difficulty in finding some items is challenging. I've been accumulating the plate number coils for many years to create an exhibit. I still don't have all that I'd like to have to submit the exhibit at a show, but I'm getting closer to my goal. My most recent acquisition is a 2915a, plate number 88898 die cut 10 x 11, used on a non-commercial cover.
