Amongst the GB the 2d orange portsmouth gas co is an anti theft measure and probably would be used fiscally to receipt a paid bill. Somehow the stamp made it a legal document. The UK never used overprinted precancels.
A fun learning exercise would be to identify the town names in the cancels on the Germanias and Hitler heads and figure out which ones are no longer in Germany, and why.
