From my USA postal history collection, here is an example of an old express mail cover:

From: Louisville, Kentucky - Valley Station
To: Des Moines, Iowa
Postmark Date: November 1, 1994
Envelope Number: EP-13C January 1991 36USC380
Type: 15.5 inch by 12 inch Tyvek envelope
Envelope Label: 11-B 5/94
Franking: $9.95 (34 29-cent stamps plus 3 three-cent stamps)

USPS had an arrangement with EMS for international shipments and they branded the label with both names, so this same label could be used internationally.

Thanks for starting this thread. I love express mail, so many stamps on one cover and not just for philatelic purposes! Here's a recent flat rate envelope I sent to my folks and had them save for me.

dgwhite87 - Besides collecting USA express mail covers, you can also collect worldwide express mail covers. See the link below for a Japanese express mail cover sent to the USA, that is also in my collection. This is also an EMS cover, and it would be quite a challenge to find these covers from all the possible countries sent back to the USA. (Over 120 countries, but I do not have a list of them)

A couple more modern examples.
Unfortunately these are both convenience over pay examples. I need to get one for exactly $26.35
