What I find fascinating about the stamps being shown; and I have a bunch of my own similar German stamps awaiting processing at some future time; is that they are almost all very common stamps.
HOWEVER, being "common stamps" is only "at first glance." Most of these issues have a myriad of different watermarks; different perforations; different shades; overprints or surcharges in different colors; and even different types of printing. As one example, there are several East German "worker stamps" in the last picture. These sets come either typographed or lithographed. Then there is the possibility of all the different cancels and the other German stuff mentioned by Rich.
I suspect that if Brett really wants to get serious about collecting German stamps, he will be upgrading his album and probably getting a current Scott catalog for Germany. The Classic Specialized also may be useful. Good luck with all this, Brett.
