I recently encountered a Black Brown Scott 16 with unusual perforations. It had on left and top perf 11.80 and 12 respectively. Right and bottom were correctly 11 3/4. However normally as part of Whitworth's Group One the perfs should 11 3/4 all the way around.

The stamp does not look re-perfed, it looks like the perfs have been there since it was perforated.

Comments appreciate from anyone who has experienced anomalous perfs on early First Cent Consorts ?

Thx Paul

Paul, a picture speaks a thousand words and more. Show us a front and back scan. Thanks.

Edit: I just noticed your other post. Am I correct to assume that you may have a certificate for the above item?

I have two certificates for my Scott 292 Cattle in the Storm that the "experts" in the US Forum have pronounced as re-perforated, although they can't even agree amongst themselves which sides are reperfed or not. I am confident this stamp is not reperfed. I have two certs and an auction house as back up, plus my own eye from 35 years of collecting experience.

The stamp I am talking about is in Ron Leith's upcoming sale lot 1732 Would like to know if that one is re-perfed or not. Come on experts let me know!

As an item coming to auction, with financial interests at play, maybe this chatboard is not the best place to ask. The subject of complex perfs on this issue is one that interests me, and my views have evolved over the years.

Sorry but no public opinion is forthcoming from me, let the phrase "anomalous perfs" and "as-is" description (with lack of a cert) guide you...

PS - FWIW I was in the "likely not reperforated" camp on your 292. Like the Consort, at that price level, better to have eyes on it than judge from a scan.
