For the people out there that don't understand (or never heard of it) the difference between PELURE paper and stamp OFFSET....Maybe we can bring information to new and nearly new collectors, so they can make informative conclusion on what they are looking at. (including myself)
Collectors out there can input information to insure the learning curve is understood for collectors.
Below are 3 Scott 194 "Newfoundland Dog" stamps that I was sure they were OFFSETS.

Understanding offsets VS pelure paper is a matter of acurate information
The above A..B..C dog stamps were sent to BNAPS.......Their explanation for offset is as follows.
OFFSET
1 - "
Shine a strong light through from the front. If there is a second image it would not likely line up exactly with the front image"....Meaning if there is a 2nd image, then it is probably an OFFSET.
When a strong light was used, I DID NOT see any double image.
PELURE PAPER
A strong thin transparent paper with an almost imperceptible weave. Because it is translucent
the printed stamp design shows clearly through the back of the stamp. That allows a stamp's design
to appear on the back of the stamp. The paper looks like a slightly dark onion-skin paper.
Any input from experts would be greatly appreciated for all stamp collectors.
