For the record.
I think the VC on 40c Blue La Sameuse could be a rare Perfin.
I have not witnessed any other than on 40c Brown Orange La Sameuse

Am I missing something? It is listed in my Ancoper 3rd ed as: V.C. 15 (rarity:4, medium)

No I don't think so, but you could be adding to the knowledge base.

I looked at a dedicated La Sameuse perfin
and of the hundreds, none evidenced the VC on 40c blue.
The VC on the Merson seems "medium"

If anyone else has a VC on a 40c blue, I'd be delighted to see it.

Perhaps the "VC VC" is simply the punch format that suits the la Sameuse
singleton, and appears double on the Merson format.

It's definitely not CV374, because of the second dot (374 is just "C.V"), and the "C" is quite different from the one in V.C.15 (one hole more - 14)... take a look:



And only a few companies had more than one multi perfin puncher to fit different stamp sizes. So you can find those on many larger issues.

Since you guys seem to know about these, what about a triangle with BP in the middle? Is there a guidebook for perfs? LOL
I know nothing about the stamps with perforations but have a few (from several countries). What do they stand for or does it vary?

Companies created them to prevent theft and use of stamps by employees. This is by the Société génerale des Huiles de pétrole.

Note : Yours is a slightly differing puncture, "P" can be 9 or 11 pins

And concerning the information question:
There is a "World Perfins Catalog" with different sections (last edition 1995) available from the Perfins Club at www.perfins.org, but as you can imagine those books just can give a little overview in some cases. For example the Austrian special catalog has more than 400 pages, only the letter "A" in the German catalog has more than 150 pages, and the "Gault GB Catalogue of Great British Perfins" will take you 3000 sheets(!) to print it!

There are a few online resources as well, like zenius.kalnieciai.lt ... here you can find many perfins with pictures, but if you want to get deeper into the matter, you will have to get the country catalogs.

As I collect perfins worldwide, I got myself almost every catalog available. So feel free to ask for information on any "holey" stamp you find.
